Re: positive of centre????
yep. what this affects is the arrow spine required for the bow. cut past centre bows need stiffer spine, cut before centre bows need weaker. the yard stick is that a 50lb bow drawn to 28, with a 28" arrow and 125gr tip, with a bow cut 1/8 before centre needs a .500 spine arrow every 1/8 of cent...

Dennis I've got a few in with USPS but not all sellers agree to the procedure and they do have to prepay and print labels because post offices don't take the over length packages generally. one did once for me.

ouch that's too bad hazard.
I lost one last week, but that's really disappointing to lose a Great Plains that is an expensive well regarded bow.

Re: Bow wood in WA
G'day
I suggest you find the properties of that timber and try to match it, eg. Density, strength etc
There are plenty of bow wood properties spreadsheets on the site
Post yours up and you'll get some help
Good luck

Re: recurve tip epic fail
scuzz the repair held, the other tip failed even despite me adding a tip
overlay.
I just poured in 2 part araldite. I reccomend a horn or phenolic overlay. I made laminated timber and botuff ones. no good.

g'day I'm off to Europe for a month, longbow is packed, can't wait! I've managed to find two possible boar hunts, one also has roe deer, and I'm hoping to find one more, in Tuscany, for wild boar also.
