Re: Some Cunnamulla photos
Gotta say I am very jealous of you Jeff, looks like some beautiful country up there! I have just consulted my Eucalyptus bible by Brooker & Kleinig and looks like that gum tree is a Bloodwood, just not sure of the exact species and would probably need to see the fruit to determine that. I do kno...

Re: Black wattle?
if you had some leaves, flowers of seed I might be able to better ID it. The bark looks superficially like some of the mountain blackwoods you sometimes see growing in the Otways and Strzlecki Ranges in Vic. That occurs up into QLD so a possibility... but Blackwood tends to be a much darker timber b...

unless you've bought a UK lottery ticket or entered into the draw then you wouldn't be eligible for a win anyway, easiest way of finding out is checking your numbers to the numbers that were drawn that week. I love the emails from nigeria asking me to give me all my details, bank details, passport, ...

Also worth mentioning that a few of the charities, including some of the larger 'reputable' charities have been caught taking advantage of elderly folk and other vulnerable people to get them to donate money. There was a case of an elderly lady in Melbourne who was suffering from a mental illness an...

Sounds nice, but a bit flat it looks like the glass has been sitting there for a few hours. English ale tastes better served through a beer engine with a nice frothy head not like the insipid cold tea they seem to serve in London (and gives English beer a terrible name everywhere).

Re: A Brew For Hazard 'COCK ALE'
I brew a fair bit of beer and probably yes the meat would provide nutrients for the yeast to help metabolise the fermentable sugars but usually there is a fair amount of proteins in the grain anyway (unless it's extract malt) to aid fermentation. I would be more worried about cross contamination fro...

I loved the telemarketer who called from the USA but said she was in Melbourne and when I asked her how she was enjoying the sunshine she replied that it wasn't sunny and had been snowing for three days solid. Oops it wasn't summer in the US. Yea you can put your name on a register and they are not ...

LP, how can anyone disagree with what you said here, I totally agree with you. Heard about this at lunch time today and just thought about my little lad who is the same age, what a terrible thing for the little girl to experience, for the mum who was powerless to stop the dog and the whole family wh...

Yeah - I'd had the hilux for nearly 10 years and they don't make them like they used to telling me, my current hilux is the new model and not half as happy with it, my old model could pull a small ute mounted plough through a paddock without me ever worrying about getting bogged but this one may as...

Clinglish, I don't disagree one iota!! and what we've called greenwashing (as opposed to whitewashing) has been around for awhile and is the biggest disingenuous crock of of bull dollop going and has merely been a way of ripping off concerned folk for years. I also agree and although I like the curr...

Just like the one they have in Newcastle on Tyne but the backdrop is a little bluer, maybe sell the weather too and you'll have a few more offers. I agree with Craig, we need to do something to reduce emissions and stop or slow climate change. Even China has started and is one of the largest global ...

The dude throwing the pie was a small time UK comedian so probably a stunt to get punters in the doors of his shows no doubt. Yikes, that picture gives me the jeebies! Thanks everyone, sorry I haven't been to this post for a few days but just been busy with the kids etc. Jeff, on the straightening issue, how straight? wish I had asked before I ordered the shafts, ah well all a learning process. I'll have a crack and see where it gets me. What about adhesive on the points? Would need to be something that can be removed each time I'm cutting down wouldn't it?

making my first set of woods, a couple of Q's
I'm finally having a crack at making my own Port Orford arrows, I have my varios clipper, nocks and points and my taper tool and I'm ready to have a go. But I have a couple of questions before I start chopping and tapering. Should I cut the shafts longer than I would normally and then tune them and ...

Did not realise there was such an issue with the early carbons, that is certainly enough of a reason to put you off for life.

And I must also agree that the burqua and also the niqab are just an example of interpretation of religion gone mad and it's got more to do with oppression of women and insecurities of men who force their wives to wear them than anything else. I don't mind the Hijab, I knew these girls that used to ...

Re: Carbon or wood to be or not to be that is the question
Dont get me wrong but the beauty, and the fairytail romance of the timber shaft is quite strong and even the smell of a P.O.C shaft is something quite sacred and almost erotic. Hazard, just to clear something up here, did you mean erotic or exotic? I'm not getting the erotic, arrows and erotic just...
