Re: brand new Toelke bow.
The riser wood is Mexican Cocobolo, the lams are Bamboo and the lighter red wood is canary wood. The limb veneer is yew and there is a really thin purple heart lam that runs the length of the bow that isn't visible in the picture. There is a picture of a bow in his web site's gallery with the same t...

Re: brand new Toelke bow.
Hi guys, I just re-stumbled across this thread, sorry I didn't reply sooner.
This is the only photo I could find; it's a beauty (the bow that is not the photo).
Hope you like!

Re: brand new Toelke bow.
Paul & Waltron, I love this bow, it is so smooth to draw and zero hand shock. I find myself thinking of any opportunity to get out and shoot it because it's such a joy to shoot. Go for it guys, I don't think you'll be disappointed and Dan Toelke is a craftsman who produces a work of art, truly ...

Great story and pics, especially the one of Butler himself.
Keep the name Butler Archery and sign your name as the bowyer.
60 years is a long history and he's done you too big a favour to just discard the name, you've got to keep it going.

Thanks for the shoot, it's good to put a few faces to people on here.
I took some photo's but they're way too big to upload even after resizing. Dissapointing.

Hey bowshu great lookin' bows. The patterns and colour in the riser remind me alot of an aboriginal art. Unique in a bow and pretty damn cool.

Yeah that's true, There is the native Noisy Minor and the pest Indian Myna, they have many similarities. Just make sure you're identifying them correctly because we don't want a repeat of a thread on another forum where someone posted photo's showing they'd been knocking off native birds.

In that case Stephen I'll see you there. I've no chance of winning I'm a trad. novice, I just wanted to know that if I come and shoot Aluminium my scores will count; that's all. I've never even been to a trad. shoot so maybe this will be the first of many.

Re: Lilydale 3D Trad Shoot
That sounds good Tony,
I want to attend this shoot but will only have aluminium arrows, so long as I will still be eligible for prizes/place (ie. my scores will still count) I will come. Don't know whether I'll shoot Longbow or recurve though.

It looks good, how does it perform? Do you know what species of Acacia it is? I think there is about 1000 Acacia species native to Aus. and I'm guessing a lot of them wouldn't be suitable bow woods.

Finally got my self sorted out after only 14 months, so am looking at getting back into archery, I'm living in Croydon so what are the options for someone who wants to do Traditional shooting in that area. Is the Lilydale group still the best option? Yes, go to Lilydale bowmen. It's in The Basin wh...

A guy I know has started making small game heads he calls DCTalons, I've found them to be very effective on rabbits. Though 25 pounds is less than what I would consider effective.

Re: Center Cut Longbows
So now this thread has got me thinking... When you guys are talking centre-shot, I presume you mean that the arrow is passing directly through the centre line of the riser much like that of a competition/Olympic style recurve, where the shelf would have to be cut past centre. As opposed to a shelf c...
