9th - 10th July 2011 3D Challenge - Lilydale Bowmen

On the Saturday we are opening our club for social event and camping. For those who camp or come for the Saturday night, we offer a fre...

Re: Mouse Removal
Here are 2 who were moved on to the next world without any fuss. Hunting these little critters was a real challenge. 4.30 am I heard scratching at my tent. The previous day was full of screams and squeals from the ladies at our camp ground who woke with the uneasy feeling of something in their sleep...

Re: Anchor and alignment and form..and still learning
Good choice of bows!
I have a Howard Hill Big 5 that was made for a mate but found too heavy. So I helped him out by buying it!
It was not his intention to sell it but I found it easier to part with the money than I did to part with the bow
(Thanks Dennis just love this bow.)
Cheers

Re: Anchor and alignment and form..and still learning
Hello Troy, I agree that keeping to the same gear is an important step to consistent results. But who can resist a new bow??? When a comp is coming up it takes all of my willpower to keep to the one bow  When I read the preceding posts, I analysed my own anchor point. I anchor to the corner of...

How it going Jesse. I have a friend that I have made in Finland and shoots with Falco. He goes by the handle of trophybow1 on youtube. Re: Bear Kodiak Custom Custom
Great to hear you will take it out of the box some time Tony
If you get cold feet you can use my riser with the new aftermarket limbs
I only bring the bear out on special occasions now but seeing your new bow has encouraged me to take it of mothballs.

2011 Australia day weekend - LB100 Classic - cancelled :-(
I am sorry to inform you all that the Australia Day shoot at lilydale has been cancelled due to the condition of the course. Due to significant rain, the grounds have become overgrown and the trees unstable. We have had some concerns with the number of trees that have fallen and we had hoped to have...

LB100 Classic
Well we have finally come up with the format for the LB100! The draw card for the original LB100 was the fact you got to shoot 100 targets over the 2 days. To do this and still conform with the ABA (Australian Bow-hunting Association) rules, we are going to shoot a standard 2 day 3D round with an ad...

Re: Instinctive shooting - an instinctive shooter's perspective
The subject of what we call our method of shooting always causes discussions on the definition of terms. I learnt to shoot a slingshot as a kid because I have an innate desire to hunt. The choice of weapon has not changed much slingshot or bow much the same to me. Today I still hunt with both and kn...

That's about it Bob. Everyone who wants to put the time in will get good at it. I like the idea of passing on info and letting people make up their own minds about what is right for them. To say that your way is the only "right way" is a bit much for me. I must say...I love the whole bow a...

Re: Instinctive shooting method-your way of taking the shot
When shooting with the sights I have the bow as vertically aligned as possible. The sight will tell you very quickly if the arrows are under or over spined. The problem with shooting barebow is that you will compensate for a poorly tuned setup as your subconscious is looking for a positive result. T...

Re: Instinctive shooting method-your way of taking the shot
Good quote Graham.
Going back to a recurve, I started using a sight as a tuning aid. I found that if the bow shoots straight and consistent with a sight, the job of shooting barebow becomes a whole lot easier.

Re: Blank bale shooting
Practice is the key. Blank bale shooting works well for fixing form issues and target panic. Follow a simple shoot routine. 1. knock an arrow 2. raise your bow arm to target 3. draw to anchor (steps 2 and 3 can be done together, your choice) 4. follow through Releasing should not be part of your rou...
